Obituary of Nora Langum Barbaras
Mrs. Nicholas J. Barbaras (Nora Langum), 80, of Preston, passed away last Saturday evening at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, where she had been a patient for several weeks. ... was laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Neuman, Dean McKnight, Aymour Gabbert, Lloyd Berry, Oscar Gillund, and Roland Beagle. Mrs. Barbaras, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Langum of Preston, was born May 9, 1884, in Preston. She was graduated from the Preston High School and Winona State Teachers College, and taught for several years in schools throughout Fillmore County. She was united in marriage to Mr. Barbaras on November 17, 1910, and they lived in Sioux City, Iowa, Chicago, and Cranford, New Jersey, before retiring and returning to Preston. He passed away on November 3, 1957. Mrs. Barbaras was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She leaves to mourn her departure two sons, Robert of Laughlintown, Pennsylvania, and Eugene of Las Cruces, New Mexico; four grandchildren, and one great grandchild; one brother, A.H. Langum of Preston; and one sister, Mrs. P. B. Remington of Preston. All have our sympathy.
