Elizabeth VanSlyke Barbaras (1848 - 1908)

Mrs. Elizabeth Barbaras died on last Saturday at her home on Third Street from dropsy, after a lingering illness. Her maiden name was Miss Elizabeth VanSlyke, born at Darien Wisconsin, Nov 22, 1848. She was twice married. Her first husband being Lorenzo VanSlyke, to whom she was married in 1884 and to George Barbaras in 1893. She was well known throughout Hastings and Washington County and had a large circle of friends who regretted to learn of her death. She was a consistent member othe Presbyterian Church and was an active worker in church circles. She is survived by three sisters and three brothers... The funeral was held from the house on Sunday afternoon Rev. R.L. Lewis officiating. Interment in Lakeside.
