Harriet Vandawarker Barbaras (1832 - 1905)

Mrs Harriet Barbaras, one of our pioneer settlers, died on last Monday morning from heart failure, after a lingering illness, being confined to her bed however, but a few, days. Her maiden name was Miss Harriet Vandawarker born in New York March 8th, 1831, locating on some land in Vermillion, afterwards coming to Hastings in 1869. Mrs. Barbaras was well known to a large circle of friends, who learned of her death with regret. She is survivied by two daughters, Mrs. J.P. Brandenbourger, and Miss Julia A. Barbaras, also three grandchildren... Interment at Lakeside.
